Our Trip To Seattle, Part 1
Even though the title of this post is Our Trip To Seattle, Part 1 we are actually going to go back to May 10, 2013 -the day that I graduated from college! The University of Houston to be exact. (#gocoogs!)
This was the top of my graduation cap so my fam-bam could find me in the sea of other graduates. I didn’t make it but I am glad that I was able to borrow it for my big day!
This is basically the only graduation photo that I have! You can tell from my hair that it was EXTREMELY humid and rainy outside so this picture was the end of it.
R and I had been dating for four years by the time my graduation came around and we were ready for a break from real life. We needed a vacation, badly!
It wasn’t difficult for us to decide on traveling to Seattle. We had both never been but had always wanted to go and my brother was stationed at Fort Lewis, about 45 minutes south of Seattle. Two birds, one stone. Whenever I am in the beginning stages of planning a trip I always turn to TripAdvisor for recommendations on hotels and things to do in the city. Basically the only thing that I knew at the time about Seattle was: 1) COFFEE CITY! and 2) flying fish in Pike’s Place Market.
Since we knew that we weren’t going to rent a car on this trip we searched TripAdvisor for a hotel that was relatively in near everything so we could walk. R and I ended up staying at Hotel 5 which was only a few blocks away from everything that we had planned. Side note, I would 100% recommend this hotel for anyone to stay and if/ when we go back to Seattle we will absolutely stay here again!
I surprised R with (what I thought was) the coolest tourist-y thing to do, a segway tour of Seattle! I found this sweet deal on Groupon from West Coast Entertainment for only $37! Our instructor/ tour guide was great and very patient.
This is me learning how to stay upright on a segway and not fall off and smash my skull into a thousand tiny pieces.
Here I am thinking that I am such a pro. One handed!
This is what I was taking a picture of in the above picture
The tour was actually on the other side of the island of Seattle than our hotel. We rode through this very hilly neighborhood on our segways.
Some Random Food Pictures

Red Mill Burgers
As you know R and I love our burgers so R did some research and found the Red Mill Burgers restaurant. We absolutely had to try these delicious burgers and they did not disappoint!
